About

Nico and Company is a design studio focusing on atelier style interiors.  Nicole Cates founded Nico and Company in early 2005. Her time is split between New York and Los Angeles.  Nicole's background is steeped heavily in both residential and hospitality design.  She attended UCLA for Interior Design, SFSU for a BA in Fine Arts and FIT for Textile Design.

As a designer, I believe that a designed space should embrace the architecture, yet have a language of its own. I've always thought interior design should push the boundaries of design so that each project has its own expressive identity.    If we had a moniker it would say refined and arresting design.

She's consulted for top design firms and developers like Roman and Williams, Hotels AB-Andre Balaz, Re-union, King & Grove Developers, The Chetrit Group and KMD.   Her projects have spanned the globe from Los Angeles, New York, Dubai, London, Turkey and the Bahamas. There is a uniqueness to her worldly approach of blending modern interiors with heirlooms from the past.
